I need suggestions for playing music at an outdoor wedding?

January 29th, 2010 admin 2 comments

We wanted to have our wedding reception at our friend’s ranch, we do not have any outlets nearby to power the speakers for music. We live in a rural town, so our options for hiring bands is limited. I wanted to play music from my ipod, I just don’t know if it is possible to hook up speakers without an outlet. Should I get a generator, or will it be too annoying? Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I appreciate any advice.

Is it possible to hire a single musician?? One flutist? One guitarist?

Hire just one single musician, someone who can bring his/her instrument along.

I suggest asking your local high school band director if he/she knows any good flutists.

I am just learning piano sheet music. How do the chords on top of the sheet music help?

January 29th, 2010 admin 3 comments

I am just playing based on the notes. But, there are little square boxes with chords on top of the sheet music. How can I utilize these to make my playing easier?

The chord symbols above the notation is a merely a reference point for what chord the left hand is playing based on the bass cleft. You will notice that the chords written above a certain measure will correspond with the same or similar notes in the left hand. It depends on the voicing. These chord symbols help a lot with people wanting to learn how to play easily considering its quicker to read rather than the bass cleft.

Here’s an example: Lets say there is a measure with the symbol C7 over it. The notes you should play in unison with your left hand are C-E-G-Bb. The C-E-G is a C major chord and you add the seventh by using a Bb. There is a whole unique style of playing this way. I suggest learning from a book called Piano In A Flash by Scot Houston. Google the guy.

What is the piano music being played during the mattress / newspaper scene in the middle of The Godfather 1?

Carmine Coppola is makes a cameo appearance as the piano player in the sequence where Clemenza goes to sleep on a mattress and you see newspaper headlines right after Michael Corleone kills Sollozzo and McClusky… does anyone know the name of this piece? Failing that, does anyone know of any other ragtime piano music like it? I really enjoyed it.

How do I go about planning a party at a nightclub?

January 29th, 2010 admin 1 comment

I have always wanted to throw a party at a nightclub. I have never had a party of my own, So I want to know how do I go about planning a big bash at a nightclub such as getting a dj, bartender, security etc.. I don’t want to have a club just for invites only just hosting a successful party at a venue. How do I book performers and what not. Any advice would really help thank you

I would find a club that I liked and then go there in the day (pre party time) and ask to talk to the manager. He’ll be quite happy to talk to you as you are $$$ to him. Ask him/her how. He’ll be able to put you in touch with good people. You can also check out the yellow pages under stuff like party planner and get someone to do all of the hard stuff for you.

How do you transfer music from an old iPod to a new one?

January 29th, 2010 admin 5 comments

I am getting a new iPod, because my old one’s headphone jack died. How do I transfer music from my old iPod to my new one- my computer’s C drive crashed a few months back and I lost all my music. Please help!
I know that there is some type of downloadable program to do it.

You can transfer music from one iPod to another in a direct way. iPod 2 iPod is what I use. I often use it to transfer music between my iPod and my sister’s. http://gutensoft.com/Utilities/iPod-2-iPod.htm

It will automatically display all files on both iPods, compare songs against two at once, remove hundreds of duplicates within one iPod in seconds, sort by Artist, Genre, Album, or even grouping of similar songs. All you need to do is simply to drag and drop what you want between iPods. Slick.

Give it a try.It even has detailed guide:

Hope these can help.

How do I find musicians for a charity concert?

January 29th, 2010 admin 1 comment

Good Morning, We run a camp for kids with special medical needs (Camp Tuolumne Trails) near Yosemite National Park. We are trying to put on a fundraiser concert for camperships but don’t have a good idea of how you could find musicians for this. Does anyone have any tips, advice, or websites with information. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Post an advertisement in the newspaper, as well as on Craigs List. Or just word of mouth if anyone knows a band or musician who is willing to play.

Colleges with majors in Music Management and Merchandising?

January 29th, 2010 admin 1 comment

I am currently a high school junior and I’m looking for colleges with a major in music management and merchandising. I would prefer colleges on either the east or west coast (need beach access! sorry to be picky ><). I’ve tried using collegeboard but…they don’t seem to include all colleges with this kind of major so I was looking for someone who has some knowledge about this. Thanks a lot!

Columbia College in Chicago.

My friend has her bachelors in Music business/Media management.

Chicago has beaches in the summer!

Can you please name some music artists that use their fame to display their political attitudes?

January 29th, 2010 admin 6 comments

Hi, for my English language coursework i have chosen to do a language investigation on the way music artists/bands use their fame to display their attitudes towards political and cultural issues. The music lyrics can range from various periods in time. I have thought of the songs "Dear Mr.President" by Pink and "Mosh" by Eminem, does anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks, Ellena. :)

DOOD! STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND LOOK UP SOME ANTI-FLAG
they are too damn awesome
best punk-political band everrrrrr
they sing about politics in like almost every one of their songs. if not the government and so and and so forth
