I am on a tight budget for my wedding and I was wondering how tacky it would be to set up speakers at our reception instead of having a dj or live band? We are already paying for musicians at the ceremony and we really can’t afford a band for the reception. Also, if you have any other creative ideas for reception music I would love to hear them!
Not tacky at all.
We’re doing the same for our July wedding. Hiring a DJ was going to cost an upwards of $800! We’re renting all the equipment (speakers, amp, mics, etc) for $100! We’ll then hook it up to our pre-mixed iPod (with a varitey of hundreds of songs, pre-loaded just for the wedding).
Cheap, exactly what we need, a great system, and no annoying DJ!
Just make sure that if you have specific songs you need played, that someone can do that for you. We’ll be designating a family member to man the iPod for a few songs. The rest of the night it’ll be on shuffle.
Good luck!

I really like vocal Jazz music. However, I do not know anyone my age that like jazz music as well. I’m not really into the rap kind of stuff but mainstream is okay and I like it too.
Are there any other jazz fans out there that are teenagers? I feel strange liking a genre people my age find "boring".
I love it too. there’s nothing wrong with it at all…there is no age limit in music

I would like to give some kind of country music collection as a gift to my dad, but I’m not a fan and not really familiar.
I would like some classic, old golden-era style country as well as contemporary top artists (maybe even Taylor Swift, but probably something better quality wise) and everything in between.
So I would like a collection of authentic country both modern and old.
Please give some artists
Johnny Cash
Conway Twitty
Sawyer Brown
John Michael Montgomery
Hank Williams Jr.
Ronnie Milsap
Steve Wariner
Jason Aldean
Jamey Johnson
Jeff Bates
George Jones
George Strait
Faith Hill
Tim McGraw
Zona Jones
Collin Raye
Confederate Railroad
Rascal Flatts
Reckless Kelly
Clint Black
Clay Davidson
Reba McEntire
Brooks and Dunn
Big N Rich
Alabama
Aaron Tippen
Alan Jackson
Blake Shelton
Buddy Jewell
Diamond Rio
Van Zandt
Joe Diffie
Wade Hayes
Justin Moore
Jason Meadows
Dierks Bently
Emerson Drive
Lady Antebellum
Darius Rucker
all are amazing.

I’m going to be buying tickets for a Muse concert through craigslist because they’ve been sold out for a while. How do i know that the tickets i’m buying are real and i’m not getting ripped off when i go to meet the guy i’m buying from? Thanks a lot!
they are most likely real. chances are the person purchased them to resell for a profit. look at the tickets and ink. check the date, time, location information on the ticket before handing over the money. and if you don’t feel comfortable with the person, don’t do the transaction, just buy from a reliable online reseller who guarantees the tickets.

I am doing a science project on this topic – and whatever info or answers I get, help!! (So basically I’m just wondering what you think the effect of classical music is on the nervous system or what you do know about this. REMEMBER, your opinion helps…a lot!! -Thanks!
no effect at all, something called the "Mozart effect", the supposed relaxation and concentration you think you feel when you listen to classical music is only temporary, about 7 mins. It does not make smarter at all, it is only a myth.

I’m trying to classify blues music that uses the organ as a background sound, synthesized.
In blues, use of the organ is not unknown. My brother Martin notes jazz great Jimmy Smith and nails the information as usual. The organist I associate most with the blues is Sid Winfield, who played with Luther Allison for years before Luther fled to Europe. (Sometimes he’s erroneously confused with Pete Wingfield and publications spell it "Sid Wingfield".) Sid resurfaced with the blues/soul outfit Big Twist & The Mellow Fellows, now called The Chicago Rhythm & Blues Kings. Sid plays a Hammond B3 with a Leslie Speaker. I never saw him use anything but that in performance, into the late 80s before Big Twist died.
You can see Sid having fun on the B3 in this live clip of Big Twist.

Gregg Allman can’t play his way out of a wet paper bag, as evidenced by the video. Why else did the Allmans hire Chuck Leavell? One reason must be is so many people think it’s Gregg playing the piano on "Jessica" when in fact it’s Chuck. Gregg’s strengths are composing and singing.
I’ve seen Gregg perform live twice: the first time during the Eat A Peach tour and the second as a big band solo act. The first show, he played rudimentary chords as Dickey Betts played guitar solos. The second time former Wet Willie frontman Jimmy Hall stole the show by performing "Keep On Smilin". I went to the Eat A Peach concert because Freddie King was opening. His organist, Duke Jethro of Mississippi, far outshone Gregg.
