What type of guitar should a beginner buy to learn the blues?

I really don’t know anything about guitars or reading music, but I am interested in learning. More specifically I would like to learn to play the blues.

There is no one right guitar for learning to play the blues. All you need is a guitar that you will like playing — something that sounds good to you and will fit well in your hands.

Yeah, a Les Paul or a 335 is great for blues, but if you don’t like to play it, you won’t be learning anything. Anything that fits your budget and sounds and plays well to you is the best choice. Acoustic is probably best at first so you can build some strength and dexterity in your hands (electrics are generally easier to play).

I’ve always loved telecasters and Ovation guitars but that’s just me. I’ve been playing blues for over 20 years (pro), and I’ve toured quite a bit, so I know a little about it.

I started with that, still using that guitar after 3 years, great for bluesy playing.

Start off with accoustic then expand your horizons.Move on to electric or slide. BB King loves Lucille!

If you’re on a budget, the Fender Squier Strat is a good choice. I’d avoid the little Fender amp though. The Marshall MG10 is better as it has a more raunchy sound and better build quality.
In my opinion, the best guitar for blues is a Gibson 335. The hollowed-out body gives it a warmer sound with plenty of sustain. Bit expensive though!
