“3G iPHONE BLUES”

I woke up this morning on Friday, July 11,
excited to go to the Apple Store to buy my slice of heaven.

I waited in line for 3 hours to get mine:
white, 16 gigabytes for two-ninety-nine.

The phone is thinner, I felt like a winner,
but there was more to buy.

They gave me a two year contract from AT&T,
then I started to cry.

Text messaging is not for free.
One-hundred more dollars for MobileMe.

And I’m not a fan of your monthly plan.
I’m throwing this contract in the garbage can.

‘Cause the new 3G has let me down.
I can’t get a signal in my rural town.

The camera is whack.
Its got a plastic back.
I’ve given too much money to the folks at Mac.

Did you foresee that people like me
wouldn’t be satisfied with your technology?

You thought your next generation
would sweep across the nation,
but your product doesn’t live up
to its expectations.

Did you foresee
that we would be unhappy?

Did you foresee
that we would go and buy the new Blackberry?

I’m trying to get into some blues music, where do I start?

March 19th, 2010 admin 13 comments

I’m trying to expand my musical horizons a little bit, currently I listen to a lot of progressive rock and death metal stuff but I’m trying to break away from my mold a little bit and learn some more about different music. If anyone can suggest me some good stuff it would be greatly appreciated.

I think the best course for you would be some electric blues like Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Winter. Maybe some rocking blues like the early Stones and Yardbirds. Early Allman Brothers, perhaps.

Then get into the Chess catalog….Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Howling Wolf. Also check out the King label with Bull Moose Jackson and others.

Go wherever it takes you. You may end up in the delta, where it more or less began, but I don’t know if that is the best starting point.

Have fun!!

Anyone know quite a lot about Blues music information/facts?

March 17th, 2010 admin 3 comments

Could you write a paragraph or more, telling me about Blues music. Could you give some facts (like about the origins of the music .etc.)
As much of help as possible is greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much!

The time you’ve wasted putting all these questions on here – you could have done it yourself properly by now.

Chicago Blues: Music Analysis & Style

March 16th, 2010 admin No comments

This is my VCE project on Music Analysis & Style covering Chicago Blues.

I cover where the style originated from, the typical elements of the music, the musicians that shaped the style and how it’s emerged into morden society.

The song is Red Rooster – Howlin’ Wolf.

Help me find a cool place to go in Chicago to listen to live blues music in a quiet setting…maybe some food?

March 14th, 2010 admin 5 comments

I would like to take my boyfriend somewhere nice for his birthday in February(planning ahead)…he likes the blues so I was thinking if there was someplace nice to go in Chicago that is kind of quiet that plays live blues music that would be cool…hopefully a restaurant.Any ideas?
I know the house of blues, but they don’t only have blues music and i want something a little smaller and more intimate.

Agree on Buddy Guy’s for blues and food, my favorite for sure. Another nice place north of the city in Evanston is Bill’s Blues, small and intimate. Lots of places to eat there too. Kingston Mines on Halsted St. is also a standout.

Where should I go for the best blues/jazz music in New York City? We have one person who is 17?

March 13th, 2010 admin 2 comments

Some of my friends and myself will be in NYC for 5 days next week. We really want to checkout the blues/jazz music scene, even if they are buskers (there are so many great musicians out there). However, we have one 17 year old with us thus restricting where we can go. I hope you guys can still help us out!
Thanks! Brian.

You’ll need to go to free jazz shows in the park. Sometimes there are free shows at Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village and sometimes they are free shows at Battery Park at the foot of Manhattan. Sometimes in Central Park.
