I’m looking for a romantic restaurant in London. Ideally, an intimate setting with a violin player. Yes it does sound a bit cliche but I know of one in Paris but not in London.
Alternatively, anywhere with live music? It seems so hard to find.
Thank you very much for your help!
Have you been to Le Cafe du Marche near Smithfield Market? I went a few years back and remember it was the only place I have been to in London with live music. (Piano and double bass) I remember the food was also very good.
Hope that helps, good luck getting there in all that snow!
There is a special name for the live music that starts almost spontaneously at traditional Irish pubs. Anyone is welcome to play and the musicians just sit in amongst the crowd drinking, socializing, and playing.
What’s it called? I think it is a "round" but I’m not certain
Trad sessions.
And no, not everyone is welcome to play, it’s considered very rude to just plonk yourself down and start playing. There is such a thing as trad session etiquette, and it is simply that you say that they are marvellous, and ask if you might join in for a tune. If they like your playing, they will invite you to stay and play some more.
I’m going out there in early March to go snowboarding for a week. I would love to see some live music acts or bands in bars while out there, anything would do but folk or country would be the best. Also what are the best bars to hang out there? Does Steamboat have a good bar scene; where should I go specifically? Thanks!
I haven’t lived there for quite a few years, but from what I remember there was a bar up there calle Levelz that was pretty good, also if you go downtown on Lincoln Ave, there are a few bars down there…I’m not sure what they have there now, since it’s been awhile. Hoped I helped…Here’s a site.

So every time when I hear someone sing live, I get goosebumps. It works every single time. For example, when I attend a concert, they sing live and the hair on my arm stands up. Or another time would be when I heard Lindsay Lohan’s "Confessions of a Broken Heart". When I first heard thay song, I got goosebumps, but I had no idea why because I thought it was just a music video on tv. But later I found out that she recorded the song in her room, there was no editing to the song so it was basically really raw, live music. Why do I get this? Is this normal or is it cuz I’m just weird?
Sounds like you are moved emotionally by live music and it causes a physical response in you.
I would love to go to a restaurant not just to eat but sit and drink some wine and listen to some live music. These are all over Europe but I can’t think of a place in Boston that will offer the same. Would anyone know of any?
I’m looking for something a little more upscale than a bar with a band… like a good quality restaurant
Well you can definitely find places like that in an online yellow pages!! There are places that play live music and also places that are considered having a wine selection too! Some places that play live msuic where you can go and sit and drink are Tua Nua and Clerys Bar & Restaurant!! Hope that helps : >
A few years ago when I was in Vegas I enjoyed listening to free live music in the casino bar area. Bad thing is I was to intoxicated to remember what casino I was in,,,lol. Do all of the casinos offer this type of entertainment? and what time is the best to catch them performing? What place do you recommend? And Free is the key. Thanks
New York New York has the best live music by far. There’s live music at the Nine Fine Irishmen Pub, as well as the Big Apple Bar – which is always playing live music it seems! There’s also entertainment at Coyote Ugly and also at the Piano Bar, but the piano bar does cost a small amount of money.
NYNY is always playing music and has the best party atmosphere if you ask me! It’s not fancy, but everyone is always having a good time!
Hi, I’m heading to Melbourne soon, and wanted to catch some live music from local bars and warehouses particularly in the Fitzroy area, but also anywhere you might recommend.
Thanks in advance!
