What does a music therapist do, and what is their education like?

March 29th, 2010 admin 1 comment

I enjoy music, and I’m thinking of going into healthcare. Someone suggested being a music therapist. Does anyone know what they do, or better yet is anyone a music therapist. What does their education consist of, and what kind of background in music do they need to have. What are some of the working conditions, and what is the salary outlook. Anyone who knows any of this information it would be greatly appreciated.

Excerpt from the below website… which includes working conditions salary etc.

Recreational therapists, also referred to as therapeutic recreation specialists, provide treatment services and recreation activities to individuals with disabilities or illnesses. Using a variety of techniques, including arts and crafts, animals, sports, games, dance and movement, drama, music, and community outings, therapists treat and maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of their clients.

What music do you suggest listening to when doing homework?

March 25th, 2010 admin 6 comments

What bands/songs do you enjoy listening to when doing homework? I can’t concentrate without music, but can’t concentrate with the majority of the music I own, so what music works with you?

I have observed myself that my concentration level is higher when music is played in the background while I am doing any work.

The best music is soft instrumental. Rock is too loud to distract you. If there are songs sung by someone are equally distracting as the lyrics and the modulation and pitch of voice distract.

The most important thing to remember is that the music should be something very soft, soothing.

Some which work best for me are

a) Yanni – tracks – Nostalgia, Until last moment, One man, Nightingale

b) Kitaro

c) Titanic tracks – they are instrumental

d) And if you like Indian music, then go for Sitar by Ravi Shankar

e) Santoor by Shiv kumar sharma

So, which one would you go for?

Happy home-working!!

Can my Limewire music be seen from the authorities when I download from iTunes?

March 23rd, 2010 admin 4 comments

I have been using limewire for downloading music, but due to the things I hear about people getting sued I want to stop and download music the right way, iTunes. The only concern i have is if you use iTunes, can my hardrive still be accessed to see if I ever downloaded illegaly. Basically, if I download music from iTunes, can they see if I have limewire music on my iTunes? I would greatly appreciate help. Thanks.

You can continue to download music from Limewire. I’ve been using Limewire for years. I’ve also downlaoded a song or two from iTunes. iTunes is connected to a database of music, therefore, nothing on your computer will be scanned by iTunes (except for your music collection within iTunes for the genuis feature). And the genius scans the music via band name, genre..etc..it’s not actually scanning to see if your music is legal or not. Besides, it would be illegal for anyone to access your computer without your permission. The stories you’re hearing about people getting sued happened back in the days of Napster (before it was reopened after legal issues) and people on Limewire who get caught are those who spend hours or even days at a time connected to Limewire downloading hundreds of songs at a time. If you’re connected for a few hours at a time at max then you’ll be just fine. I have a friend who’s always connected to Limewire when I see him on his computer and he’s never had issues.

How to convert music to your ipod with itunes?

March 21st, 2010 admin 5 comments

Is it possible to convert music in itunes to a lower quality when you put the music on your ipod?
The music in my itunes library is in high quality, but i would like to convert it to a lower quality on my ipod so i can get more music on it.
Is this possible with itunes or do I need to use other software for this?

Thanks!

Hi, I can recommend you a good iPod Video Converter, it can convert many video formats to video format supported iPod, it also can edit a video, if you want to get a smaller video file, you can use the "Crop" function that adjust the size of the video.
If you want to learn more details about this converter, you can go to

March 14th, 2010 admin 1 comment

I want to know what song/music they play when the PA Announcer announces the starting lineup for the VISITING team at Celtics games. There are no words, it’s just music and it has been the same for years. I don’t want to know anything about the Celtics starting lineup music, thank you though.

Isn’t it Stronger by Kanye West?

How do I get my music to save to the iTunes library?

March 13th, 2010 admin 2 comments

I download my music form Frostwire(same thing as Limewrire). I get the music in the library and it goes to my iPod and everything. The next day when I go to iTunes, the music is not in the iTunes library BUT it is still in my iPod and everything. The only way I can listen to music on iTunes is if i plug in my iPod. Otherwise there is no music on the library. What can I do?

You can’t….. iTunes knows those files are illegal and now you have yourself some problems….what you do is buy your music, and then it will show in your library…
