Should I tip a bartender for selling me a beer in a busy nightclub?

March 14th, 2010 admin No comments

I attend a busy nightclub every thursday. Beers are four dollars, I pay cash, and it takes them two seconds to uncap it. I know bartenders make minimum wage, but these bartenders make hundreds in tips in four hours of work. Should I still tip them when I know they do much more than compensate for a minimum hourly wage?

FI_ICK that SH!T. We’re in a recession.

What does it take to be a bartender in a Las Vegas Nightclub ?

March 8th, 2010 admin 1 comment

My name is Mike. I am in my thirties and I just got layed off from my banking job. I am enrolling in bartending school to become a bartender and then my dream is to move to Las Vegas and become a bartender at a nightclub. Can someone out there tell me what that will take ? How can I accomplish that goal with no experience ?

i’m going to tell you this from experience … it’s much harder for a man, who’s just getting into the game, to get a job as a bartender in LV. the clubs & casinos want women, or men who’ve been doing it for a long time.

if you still want to pursue it, you’ll have to start small (and it helps you know someone!) … go to a local bar like PT’s or something, or start as a barback. you may have to do that a while. but at home, practice skill & drinks any chance you get, so that if you go for the "big job" you have something to prove! you have to step it up, since you don’t have the experience.

What to wear to a nightclub themed dance?

March 6th, 2010 admin 2 comments

My middle school has final fling for the last dance of the year. The theme for us (eighth graders) is night club. I’m a guy, and I have no idea what I’m supposed to wear. It’s not for about a month, but no one seems to have any idea, and I was wondering what I’m supposed to wear. By the way, I think nightclub is a bad theme choice for an eighth grade school dance.

Thank you!

just wear what you’d wear to a regular school dance, jeez its not like its a real night club. :/

How do I file a complaint against toilets in a nightclub in the UK?

March 2nd, 2010 admin 2 comments

I went to a nightclub yesterday that I have always noticed had bad toilets. But yesterday there was sewer waste on the floor, no running water, no toilet paper, no locks on the doors and few loo seats on the ”decent” cubicles. Who should I get in contact with, the local council or a health agency?
Thanks.

It may have been a bad night for the club does,nt your toilet at home ever block up? Perhaps too many ladies have been depositing you know what down the toilet instead of the bags supplied. If it is a regular occurrence, the the best way to complain is for you and your friends to boycott the place. The lack of customers will focus their attention.

Oh you poor dear, what a terrible experience for you. You must be traumatized and I am sure that your life has been ruined. The horror of going into a toilet and finding it less than desirable must have been a terrible shock to you. I can only imagine what this is going to do to your future life, the fact that you had to stay in this club all night and could not go on to another, must have been the most horrible thing that has happened to you. The thought of you and your friends being in that club drinking all night without the ability to move onto another club has quite frankly shocked and horrified me. Do you like this answer better? if so can you rescind the thumbs down that you have given me. I ask because you have traumatized me. I am petrified with grief that I have upset you with my answer, that I thought was a fair and common sense approach to your problem. I have just had an idea! why dont we both sue them for mental cruelty and anguish.

What is the best way to approach a bar/nightclub owner for a sales pitch?

February 24th, 2010 admin 2 comments

I’m looking for if there are any statistics on best time of day, time of year, etc. I’m also looking for any personal experiences and tips on what to look out for and basics when dealing with bar/nightclub owners. Your answers are much appreciated!

There is not much to say aobut form (Time of day, or year. . ) for there are different types of people (there are morning people who concentrate better early in the morning and there are night people) but there are a couple of things you might want to consider about the content of your sales pitch.

1) People love to buy, but they hate to be sold to. make sure your pitch is not pushy, and let the buyer buy (listen listen and try to design a solution not pitch a sale.)

2) Do your homework, research every bar and bar owner you wish to pitch to. For each will have unique strengths, and a different focus on the business. . . (It can be millions of things, style, volume, youth and atmosphere etc., or even just finnancial throughput)

3) Understand their, verbal and body language. shift your presentation to focus on what is important to them. Know a fair share of industry metrics. . . (Such as table turnarround rate, profitability per square foot, profitability per fill rate . etc.) make sure your product, has a sirgnificant impact on those measures, be it a new drink, a new sound system or even better lighting.

3) In general it is better to sell when business is doing well. The bar owner will be receptive to improvements, but there are good reasons for an owner to buy when he has just identified business is falling back. . . so it depends on your research.

4) Make rapport an important focus of your pitch. Do not try to sell to hard. Focus on building the relationship and designing the solution. . People like to buy from people they like, its much better to come out of a sales meeting with a solid relationship than with a hard sale.

5) Have fun. . . if you are having fun the fun will rub on everyone and attitude is more than half of the buying process.

How do I become a dancer in a nyc nightclub?

February 20th, 2010 admin 2 comments

I am interested in becoming one of those go-go or caged dancer in a nyc nightclub.

Do you mean a stripper? NYC doesn’t have clubs with caged go-go dancers, unless you’re talking about strip clubs. If so, be really, really hot and get comfortable flirting with 40 year old guys and tricking them out of their money by hinting you might go home with them. Also, make sure you lock up your stuff so it doesn’t get stolen while you’re working and be prepared for the club owners who’ll only let you work if you sleep with them or give them a cut of your earnings.

What requirements need to be fufilled to open a nightclub?

February 18th, 2010 admin 1 comment

I am going to a college town in a few weeks to start school. Its Warrensburg, MO, otherwise called the King of Suitcase Cities, everyone simply goes home on the weekends due to the lack of entertainment venues. The local nightlife consists of a few bars, but all of them are full of old people who just crush any attempt to listen to popular music or dance in a style that is not akin to a ho-down.

In other words, this place desperately needs some nightlife injected into it. Empty warehouse style buildings abound, and being the most common kind of building a nightclub opens in, I thought it’d be a good idea to open one. Labor and the DJ can be pulled from the 10,000 or more students on campus. The building would be easy to rent or own.

But, of course, there are some problems. For one, I have no idea what kind of liscensing I’d need. Alcohol definitely, but then what about the music? Is there a fee to use it? And what kind of startup costs are we talking?

You need many things. Just to name a few- you need to lease a place, buy all the permits and stuff, an alcohol license, which I might add in Los Angeles County (California) is about $150,000…
Call your local business bureau. You can look it up on the cities or counties website.
You can’t just go take over a building- it’s called trespassing. For music fees, you mean to play songs? No, unless you use them in a commercial or something.
It would be A LOT OF WORK!
Good luck.
