What should I wear to an interview for a promotions position at a nightclub?

February 15th, 2010 admin 4 comments

I have an interview at an upscale nightclub for a promotions position. Should I wear more club like attire say nice jeans and a button down, or go more formal with slacks and maybe a jacket. Any ideas?

Jeans is NEVER an appropriate interview outfit unless its for a porn movie !!! Seriously, whether its a corporate or a nightclub, jeans is totally inappropriate.
Wear a Semi formal outfit. Like a nice shirt, with a jacket if you have one. And either a knee length skirt or pants. Slacks and jacket sounds good :) *

What age is required for the Eclipse nightclub in Harrisburg?

February 10th, 2010 admin 1 comment

Is the Eclipse nightclub in Harrisburg always 18-21?
If it is not strictly 18-21, when do they have 18+ events?

This is their December schedule:

What do you look for in a nightclub, and what is the most important feature?

January 31st, 2010 admin 5 comments

What do you look for in a nightclub? What type of music? Lighting? A single bar table or scattered mini-bars? Is availability of food important? Do you go just to dance, hang out with friends, or meet new people? Smoking or non? What is the single most important feature? I’m just looking for general opinions on the matter. Something to help me focus my ideas and efforts.

being able to talk somewhere a little quieter if you have to.

How do I go about planning a party at a nightclub?

January 29th, 2010 admin 1 comment

I have always wanted to throw a party at a nightclub. I have never had a party of my own, So I want to know how do I go about planning a big bash at a nightclub such as getting a dj, bartender, security etc.. I don’t want to have a club just for invites only just hosting a successful party at a venue. How do I book performers and what not. Any advice would really help thank you

I would find a club that I liked and then go there in the day (pre party time) and ask to talk to the manager. He’ll be quite happy to talk to you as you are $$$ to him. Ask him/her how. He’ll be able to put you in touch with good people. You can also check out the yellow pages under stuff like party planner and get someone to do all of the hard stuff for you.

How do you become a bartender at a cool nightclub?

January 26th, 2010 admin 4 comments

You would have to get one of those Safe serving of alcohol certificates, right?
Do you have to be a regular clubber of that nightclub? Do you have to be an alcohol drinker? Will they teach you how to mix drinks or do you have to know that already?
How much do nightclub bartenders earn?

you go up to the owner, ask for an application, then get on your knees

lol… jk. depending on which state youre in, you can serve alcohol and be a bartender. you dont need a fancy shmancy certificate. You dont have to be a regular, or an alcoholic… they’ll teach you a little… but really… you should know combinations and drink names already. it gets busy, and you have to know what youre doing

Is it legal for a nightclub to charge men a higher entrance fee than women?

January 22nd, 2010 admin 9 comments

I was told by a nightclub owner that they are allowed to do this in order to get an even split of men and women attending the club (on police advice?) and this is why they are entitled to do this. I myself am under the impression that this is not complying with the sex discrimination act. Any help?

It would be hard to get away with this kind of thing in the EU, ladies night and charging men more to goto a night club is blatant discrimination, viva le EU.

How much is a bottle of red wine in a nightclub?

January 16th, 2010 admin 3 comments

I’m thinking about drinking red wine in a nightclub when I visit Northern California (probably in San Francisco). I wonder whether I should get a bottle or 4 glasses. Don’t know anything about red wine so probably will just get the house red wine.

Totally depends on the type/brand of wine – also depends on how much money the club jacks up the price (different restaurants/bars charge differently for alcohols/wines)
