Specifically, I want to be the person making the sheet music. I have extensive experience with Sibelius and Finale, and all the classical music training, as well as plenty of knowledge of music writing for all the types of instruments. Classical for strings, wind, brass, and percussion. And pop music, lyrics, chord charts for guitar, tab, anything. I live in Los Angeles. I want a job putting these talents to use, making quality sheet music for a publishing company. Where do I start, and once I’ve started, where do I go from there?
You’d have to find out the names of the music publishing companies, then visit their Web sites or call or write and see if they’re hiring.
Once you’ve started, where you can go from there will probably become apparent. The secret is to get your foot in the door.
I’ve been asking friends if they knew any good websites that would give free printable sheet music, but none of the websites were actually free and at that rather high priced. So if anyone knows any websites with FREE sheet music it would help a lot.
I’ve used these sites a lot:
www.free-scores.com
a little quirky, sometimes difficult to work, but there are some useful things on it. If you don’t speak French, it will translate.
icking-music-archive.com
huge, and sorted out only by composer; no search. You can get things like the Telemann Canonic Sonatas in alto clef! Also 4 pages of links to other free music sites. This place is so good it’s the home page on my laptop
kantoreiarchiv.de/startox.html
has some good duets and easier chamber music
violinand viola.co.uk
quirky and fun British site with free stuff.
Some of the payfer sites have freebies, too, albeit tucked away out of sight, sometimes.

I want to find the sheet music for "Sunflower" by Wang for the piano. Are there any free sheet music for it online? Thanks very much.
I’ve been looking for a few pieces myself, and it isn’t called being cheap, it’s called not having time to go looking for it in the shops. Some pieces are never even published as books, so it’s necessary to egt them on the internet.
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a full piece for free but you could try youtube because sometimes the sheet music is included with the video or perhaps your local library?

Someone recommended finale notepad too

Download sheet music from movies, video games, and tv series. Learn to modify the sheet music to transpose the notes to any instrument and print it out. Again if you can get sibelius or finale, it might be better =P.

Piano sheet music for The Impossible Dream from Man From La Mancha and Growltiiger’s Last Stand from Cats? And possibly Maybe This Time from Cabaret?
I’ve looked everywhere, and most free sheet music sites are just indexes so please don’t suggest one of those.
Best answer gets 10 points, so please be helpful.
Have you tried your local library?
