What have been some negative changes in the country music industry in the past decade?

I am currently writing an essay about how music industry has changed. I am not a country music enthusiast, so I really dont know what has changed in this genre. I thought one change may be the shift from old school country to the newer sounding rock-country music. If you can add more insight that would be helpful

…..well George Strait and Alan Jackson said it best in the song "Murder On Music Row".this line sort of sums it up…………………
"For the steel guitars no longer cry, and the fiddles barley play.
But drums and rock’n'roll guitars,Are mixed up in your face"
Country music has died. The replacement "progressive-alternative-bubblegum pop".

it’s becoming more ‘pop’ ish .. they are using different instruments as well.
also the singers (especially the younger ones) lack that soulful bluesy tone in their voice, which is distinctly country

It’s not the ROCK Country that is the change. That is called SOUTHERN ROCK and has been with Country for YEARS. Skynard was with Country, Charlie Daniels Band is Southern Rock, you could find a list of Southern Rock in with Country. It is the POP sound that is ruining Country. Don’t insult Rock by calling pop part of rock, even if Yahoo thinks the two go together. Yes though the POP sound is the most damage that has been done over the last decade.
