How do I get my new music to save continuously to an external hard drive?

I have an external hard drive that I’ve saved all of my music to, but is there any way to like set up my itunes so that, when i buy or add new music, it gets automatically transferred to my computer and my external hard drive? I don’t want to have to save my entire library again just to back up my new songs. Thanks!

If you are using your external drive just as a backup:

Your iTunes library in this case will be on your local drive. You can’t get iTunes to automatically save a copy of a new (bought) download on to the other drive as well as your library. But if you periodically select all the folders in your iTunes library folder and copy to your external drive, and select do not replace, then it will copy over only the new albums.

Or do you mean your iTunes library reads from your external hard drive but you want iTunes to add new albums when you drag new albums on to your external drive?

In this case iTunes doesn’t have a monitor feature; you must add (control O PC, Cmd O Mac) the overall folder whenever you wish iTunes to refresh the library. It won’t actually load every album again though, and should take only a few seconds to find the new music.

Not sure exactly what your question ismight not have answered it for you.
