How to write my own piano music?

I have such a great music mind. I can think of such pretty tunes, but I can’t put them into piano notes. Help me?
spacolie’s answer wasn’t bad, but no software or paying stuff. I just want advice from you guys.
I already have musical experience. I play the piano. I just can’t write my own music.

If we were to teach you music composition, it would be too much to explain. You would also have to AT LEAST know the fundamentals/a bit of how to play the piano or a bit of music. I suggest you take theory lessons. Although, it would probably not benefit you very much if you don’t have musical experience. I just suggest you make a system of where on the keyboard the notes are. When you compose music, you have to consider timing, key signature, etc. I know you don’t want to pay, so then the only alternative is the internet or someone you know. I don’t know any sites, but I suggest you take lessons. It will at least give you a vague idea on composition. Or google it. But you still may not be able to understand it very well. You also need to know how to write in a key, harmony, etc.

There is a program for writing music called Finale. The everything packet is 600$ but there are lesser packets like Finale Songwriter that are only 50$. I have Finale Songwriter and its great for writing all types of music for a lot of different instruments.

Hey, me too. I have played the piano 17 years and compose my own music. It sounds like you have a great ear and possibly perfect pitch. What I do is I use a software called Finale where you can click in notes on a score and play back the song to see if it sounds like your own song. Start by poking in the notes to your song and see if the beat is correct. Most probably it is not the first time you enter notes but that’s what the software is there for – you adjust the notes to eigths, ties between notes…etc until it sounds exactly like what you want. It takes a while to learn this but it becomes second nature with repetition. You can use finale from a university music library or download an earlier version online. The newer versions cost some money and 2007 edition is around $400. In the end it might be more that all worth it to buy the newer version but start with the non-pay version to learn the software and then buy the real thing when you’re adept at writing music.
