I need suggestions for playing music at an outdoor wedding?

We wanted to have our wedding reception at our friend’s ranch, we do not have any outlets nearby to power the speakers for music. We live in a rural town, so our options for hiring bands is limited. I wanted to play music from my ipod, I just don’t know if it is possible to hook up speakers without an outlet. Should I get a generator, or will it be too annoying? Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I appreciate any advice.

Is it possible to hire a single musician?? One flutist? One guitarist?

Hire just one single musician, someone who can bring his/her instrument along.

I suggest asking your local high school band director if he/she knows any good flutists.

Get a high volume "boombox" that uses batteries! You can plug bigger speakers into some of them for more volume!
