Looking for live oaks and spanish moss for a wedding ceremony?
My dream is to get married in front of huge live oaks dripping with Spanish moss. Maybe 2 lines of live oaks or just a few big oaks for the actual ceremony.
However, I have three limitations:
1. I need to have a good backup location in case of bad weather. Ideally, the oaks would be a part of a location that has indoor facilities in case of rain.
2. I cannot spend more than 9k for everything. That includes the reception, ceremony, alcohol, favors, flowers, cake, dress, wedding bands, music, etc. Not a tiny budget but not a huge budget either.
3. I am looking for a location that is within 100 miles of Savannah. My friends would be arriving from Atlanta and his family would be arriving from VA.
Has anyone achieved this type of wedding on this budget? Where did you do it?
Btw… I only plan to have 40-50 guests. So, I am hoping a 9k budget is more than reasonable for that.
Great idea on Bluffton, South Carolina. The Liberty Oak near the lighthouse is sooo pretty but it looks like it’s owned by Sea Pines Resort which is charging too much for it. ![]()
Being a native Charlestonian, I HAVE to recommend Boone Hall Plantation. You’ll love its long drive way full of big, beautiful oak trees that is fondly called the "Avenue of Oaks". If you’ve ever watched "The Notebook", it was the house that Allie lived in during the summer in Charleston.
For the indoor facilities, there is the Cotton Dock, which is on the grounds of the plantation. You can also have a tent set up for your reception and/or ceremony.
Here is a link to their official website:

Good luck and best wishes!
Check out Bluffton SC. That whole little town is covered with big oaks & moss. And there’s the new Palmetto Bluff development that is still very eager for traffic. Their stables are nicer than lots of country clubs, and pretty empty so far…
